A Colima male figure

A hollow figure of a sitting male person with a bulbous body. Both hands under the chin. He holds an object in the mouth, probably a jade stone. A peyote cactus object is attached on the top of the head. Colima culture, West-Mexico. Buff coloured terracotta. Dated 300 BC  – 300 AD.

Ex private collection Amsterdam. Collected before 1975. Sold to Dick Meijer Antiquities in 2008. Ex private collection Ms. A. Rutten, Tilburg.
