A bronze Kotoko equestrian figure. These figures were worn as personal amulets. They protected their owners against dangers and threats as well as sickness and mental ilness. The majority of the amulets represent horse riders,, known as ‘putchu guinadj.’ Baguirmi region of Chad or North cameroon., Bronze with a patine of intense use. First half 20th century.
